Member Shaun Cobb and I fished Timber Lake the day before the cold front moved in on Thursday. Man…did we catch it just right. We caught very healthy fish pretty steady all day.
We caught 45 from sunrise until dawn. 10 of those 45 were harvested and the keepers probably averaged 3 pounds. Big fish was caught by Shaun at 4.70. We didn’t catch a giant…but had an absolute blast. Hauling in 2 - 4 pounders all day does not get old.
We caught a mix of prespawn, spawning and post spawn fish. We also saw our first pods of fry swimming around.
Only negative was the wind…we dealt with gusts to 25-30mph…but Captain Cobb ran the boat like a champ.
This lake fishes much bigger than 30 acres because you can pitch at timber targets all day and not pitch to the same one twice. Awesome Solitude.
