Had an excellent late afternoon with buzz baits at Malouf about a week and a half ago, and since I’m trying to get my wife Amy into bass fishing I thought taking her out for a brief trip of topwater fishing would help get her excited about the sport.
Got to Malouf about 6:00 pm, very very windy conditions which kept us on the leeward side of the lake’s points (we were bank fishing). Had a decent afternoon, though. From 6:00 pm to 7:45 and while fishing buzzbaits only, she caught three at 3.9 lbs, another of about 2, and a dink. I caught 5, biggest was 3.8, and smallest was 2. Between us had another half dozen hits that we didn’t get a hook set. White had much more activity than chartreuse.
It was great when her big fish blew up the water. I heard it instead of saw it, and then she squealed. Good stuff. Sending along her picture, proud as can be. She’s apparently mastered the part of fishing that involves trash talking when you catch the biggest fish of the trip.

That’s great, Herb! Fortunately my wife loves to fish too. We talk “trash” too, all in good clean fun. We say things like, “Well, I caught the first and the most but you caught the biggest, but who’s counting?” LOL Love it. And wishing you both many more wonderful outings together!
