Slot Fish
But the fish were biting! It was literally miserable weather-wise. The wind was really blowing, the rain had my guest drenched to the core, and the temps continued to fall throughout the day. Since I rarely get to see my old friend, we decided to brave the weather like we used to do growing up. We did sit out one lightning storm in the truck but otherwise we toughed it out.
The fish were chomping pretty nicely. We started with top water plugs and small crankbaits but ended up flipping the timber for the majority of the day. We each had five pounders and plenty of three and four pounders. Black and blue creature baits at the base of the big stumps were the ticket. We ended up with about thirty fish but only culled three. Our average sized fish was over 3 pounds. My friend called it the best day of fishing he’s ever had and he was miserably cold if that tells you how much fun we had.
Tight lines,
