Fished the property on Sunday afternoon from 12-6 with fellow member Jon Frank.  Lake is in good condition, probably 3 ft visibility and about 5 feet low or so.  Water was 63 degrees and we saw no signs of bedding fish.

I don’t think the weather report called for it, but the wind was rough in east TX, probably around 20mph - it limited our fishing spots to the coves and up by the house - still enough water to fish, but would have liked to spend some time in the main body of water as well.

We caught 20 or so bass - we harvested 12 under 16”.  We tried a lot of different baits around the trees and were not too successful until we tried wacky rigged sinkos.  Two of the best fish were one over 5 lbs and one a hair under 7 lbs that was slightly over 24” - big bug eyes - pics sent to Steve/Brian.  I had two other big ones on - one spit the bait and one broke off in heavy timber.

Great property - Will go back when the wind isn’t howling.

Great time on the water with Mark, the guy can fish. If you haven’t visited Hat and Star, you are missing out. Well worth the time and the money. And as you can see, there are large fish in this lake. I have never seen a 7 lb. fish with bug eyes like that! When we pulled it from the water I actually handed it to Mark and said “Congratulations on your first 10 lb’r”. I was stunned this thing didn’t go 10. Congrats Mark, what a fish!
