Took adult son to Indian Hollow Ranch. First time for both of us. Property is very grown up with weeds, briers and brush. Arrived at 2:00 p.m. after a great burger in the town of Boswell.
Unloaded kayaks. Drop off point is very steep in comparison with other PWF lakes we fished. Makes unloading and loading back up a bit of a chore.
Water is ultra clear with weed growth about what one would expect at the end of summer. Club boat on site but did not use.
Fished briefly the small pond from the bank with no bites. Access to the small pond is severly limited again by the brush and weeds.
Moved over to the large pond fishing from the kayaks with very limited bites from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. With summer like temps, very little wind, ultra clear water and no cloud cover we started to target the deeper areas of the lake to try and find fish that may have been hiding from the sun but again with very little success. After 4:00 p.m. we began to catch more fish alll over the lake. All lures we used were equally successful.
All fish caught on this trip were undersized and removed with the exception of one measuring 14” which was released. We could not find any larger fish on this trip.
At about 6:30 pm we decided to call it quits and load up for the long drive home.
Did our best to cull some of the fish in this remote lake but more is needed.
