Fishing Report — September 27, 2028
Location: New lake near Marlow, OK
Start Time: ~9:00 AM (we started late as we were working out lake access)
Weather / Conditions
Water temperature: ~76 °F
Wind: ~15 mph
Day warmed up steadily; by midday heat was a factor
Catch Summary & Tactics
Total caught: 10 fish Largemouth
Big ones:
• 4 lb fish — landed on a soft shad swimbait
• 3 lb fish — took a chartreuse spinnerbait
Others: the remaining fish were caught on a pumpkin/chartreuse wacky rig
Hot zone: most bites came along the windy side of the dam or tank area
Timing: both bigger fish were caught in the first 20 minutes; after about 1:00 PM the bite really slowed, and with rising heat we decided to call it a day
Notes & Takeaways
The windy side of the dam area clearly concentrated bait and fish — that was the zone to focus on.
The swimbait and spinnerbait each triggered aggressive strikes early, while the wacky rig was more of a numbers game (but smaller fish).
As midday heat crept in, fish activity dropped off. It’s a familiar pattern — early morning is usually your best bet on a big lake like this.
Starting later cost us some prime time, but we still landed quality fish early.
