Fished Sand Pit 9/20 with my son and my brother. Bite wasn't on fire but plenty enough action to keep it interesting. Most bites came from pitching Texas rigged worm (bass pro squirmin worm) to shoreline structure. Fish didn't want anything to do with moving baits. We caught a few fishing the offshore humps and a point on the south end of lake, but that was only producing smaller fish so we abandonded it. My son caught 2 fish right at 4lbs. My brother had a good one as well, but no scale in boat to weigh it. We also had a bunch over 3lbs.
Overall this was a great trip and a great property. No giants today, but this lake seems to have a good average sized fish and plenty of them. We will be back soon. Thanks to PWF and the property owners for making this possible.

I’ll add to Jason’s report. I fished early near the shoreline with the wood. Started out with a bone colored popper but no luck. Picked up a wacky rigged Mardi Gras colored stick worm and nailed a good one near some structure. She was easy 4+ (no scale). Those fish fight hard and it took a while to get her to the boat. Continued with the wacky worm and caught several more including another 3+. Tried several moving baits without much luck. The few fish I could get to chase were on a 3-foot citrus shad crank, and had a couple of fish bite on a Sexy Shad colored Rat-L-Trap. They seemed to be short striking it and both on the trap came off at the boat. I suggest a stiffer rod if you are gonna crank in this pond. By mid-day I commited to deep cranking with 15+ feet cranks with no luck so I ended the day by 2PM with only 8 healthy fish with only 1 being a short cull. The side of the pond with the stumps along the shoreline seemed to produce best. Picked off a few under the floating pump on the opposite side. This pond has potential for some big fish. Lots of bait along the shore and all fish were fat. There are grass carp in here and a few gar.
