Reservation Number : 44617
Property Name : Hidden Springs Ranch
Reservation Date : 09/19/2025 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 17 LMB - 27 Crappie
Lures Used : Soft plastics, Crank baits, crappie jigs

Booked an all trip on Friday arrived at 7:30 to a full lake. The water temp was 81-84 and the clarity was great. There are some types of grasses to contend with, but nothing major. I started catching fish right away on watermelon red paddle tail worms and small crank baits I had a few blow ups on a buzz bait and frogs, but could never get them to commit. I pretty much worked my way around the lake fishing  the shore and catching everything in 4-6 feet of water. I found lots of crappie at the boat dock, but nothing of anysize. I then found a tree layed down in thirteen feet of water and the slabs were stacked up in it I worked that tree for  awhile jigging it and had so much fun with it. I probably pulled fifty crappie just out of that one spot. If you have never been to this property you are missing out. It is really one of the best lakes in the club It offers everything and the price is right too. I didnt catch any bass over 14”, but thats always fine with me because I am always happy to fill my freezer

A Bill Plummer’s frog has literally slayed the bass on the edge and/or through the middle of vegatation since the sixties to present day, but I can’t remember the last time I saw a frog and the fish probably haven’t either. Never have seen one at any of the 50 plus ponds I’ve fished with the club in over 25 years. Where did they all go. My pond in Lavaca county used to loaded with small brown and  green frogs plus some bullfrogs along with  a fresh water shrimp. They’ve been gone a long long time.

The best fish of my trip were on Pop R’s at first light near the island.  Fish were steady mid morning off the weed beds.  Late afternoon evening was tough.  Thought the dam would be really productive but not much happened there.
