Arrived even earlier than planned and was on the water by 6:15. Sun didn't show itself over the trees until after 7:30. This gave rise to a rare opportunity for me to chase blow ups. What started as a very calm day, you could see very clearly where bass had pinned bait fish at the surface and were feeding. By 8, I had boated 11 including a 3# and several more in the 2# range. Seemed to spend more time running from blow up to blow up but without exception, if I got there while it was still happening, I just threw in the middle of it and boom! Fish on! Didn't matter what I threw (chatter bait, senko, frog ). On occasion I have seen this but not like today. Fun for sure. After the sun came up and a light breeze started, the feasting stopped and so did the catches. I then went to typical search patterns, primarily along the bank which had a good grass line. Picked off a couple but really slowed down. Also tried some big wurms deep and crank baits without any bites. But around 10:30, landed a very rare double. While fishing some submerged timber, I got a bite on a square bill and of all things, caught two at the same time. A 2# and 1#. Panicked just a little to try and get a picture (so my buddy Larry would believe me) and almost dropped the phone in the lake. Despite my best effort at screwing this up, managed a rather poor picture after all. And that finished off the morning. For those of you fishing right now, you know how hot it gets quickly. I headed for the shore and was loaded by 11, hot but pretty pleased with the day. Love this lake and will certainly be back before too long I hope. Thanks as always to the property owner for such a nice lake. We appreciate it.
