Ron Dupree and I can’t complain about the quality of the Rock Chimney bass that we found on Friday morning. While there were no lunkers, there also were very few smaller bass. We caught 32 bass and only four of them were < 14” and only one of those was < 12”. The rest were solid 2.5 – 3.5 pound fish with a few at 4 pounds thrown in (Ron lost a jumper he estimates at 5#). There wasn’t a ripple on the water until 9:30 and 90% of the bass were holding very tightly to the shoreline. We were both surprised several times when our lures landed directly on bass at the shoreline and the water exploded. Twice the bass didn’t wait for the lure to land before coming patially out of the water for it. Chatterbaits and underspins were the best producers with dropshot, lipless cranks, and swim worms all catching a few bass each.
The lake remains low with minor subaqeous vegetation and 85 degree water (cloudy morning). Mr. Stanley stopped for a quick chat as usual. Another good Rock Chimney outing!
