Wife and I fished Twin Lakes on Saturday under good and varied conditions for mid-July. We were only able to fish West as we inspected both property boats at East – the large flat bottom one is in good shape and looks very stable, but lacked the drain plug and I had previously used my spare on a prior trip somewhere. The V-hull is designed with no plug, so I couldn’t borrow it. I’ve already been “swimming” at a PWF swimming hole earlier this year, so we opted out of the wobbly V-hull. Having said that, we used the little V-hull at West – LOL! It worked fine, but we limited our tackle significantly. Had a good morning on West though for sure – we had 32 before 10AM and finished with 38 total from dinks to 5.4 LBS – and another solid one at 4.55 LBS. Most effective lures: Grn/Wht/Nickel Spinnerbait, GrnPkn Curly Tail Worm, and JunBug Lizard. Lakes are full and up into the lush ranch shorelines. Weather was nice in the AM, but got super muggy by lunchtime. Enjoyed the clouds, but got chased off by some squalls. Thankfully my wife knows when to get off the water – ‘cause I’d probably stay well past what would be safe HAHA! Sure enjoyed TL in Ben Wheeler!
