Reservation Number : 43953
Property Name : Post Oak Lake
Reservation Date : 07/05/2025 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : About 50 fish. Largest 5 1/2lbs
Lures Used : Texas rig worms, 3.75” swimbaits, crank bait, popper

My son an I fished from about 8am to 6pm.  We brought our 10’ Plastic boat since the club boat is currently out of service.   Rain started around lunch time and it rained off and on all afternoon.  There was no lightning so we just fished through it.

The bite wasn't exactly on fire, but there were plenty of fish to be caught.  We worked the edges of grass along the banks with Texas rigs and poppers.  We worked open areas with swim baits.  We also caught a bunch on Crush City Mooch Minnow on a 1/8 oz jig head.  I know that's more of a FFS bait, but it seems to work fine just chunking and winding it around.  A lot of fish were in the 2.25 – 3lb range.  We lost track of numbers but I'm sure it was around 50.  We took home 26 culls.  My brother and cousin also fished out of a different boat but they left at 2pm because of the rain.  I didn't get their numbers.  I'm sure my brother will reply to this report with his account.

This was a fun trip.  Thanks to PWF and the property owners for the opportunity.

The cousin and I fished out of a center console launched on the ramp.  We found fish high and tight to the bank along the shallower side of the lake near the small bridge.  Most of our bites came off of a wacky rigged green pumpkin magic senko, a t-rigged watermelon Rage Craw, and a bone colored top water popper which produced some great blow ups.  Other lures that produced fish included a Berkley shad style swim bait, a cut tail worm, a silver/black back DT-4, and a Red Eye Shad lipless crank.  We managed about 18-20 fish and most were pretty chunky (see photo – and dont mind the goofy faces I make when sending my wife fish photos).  Our biggest 2 topped out around 3.5lbs.  A few culls appeared skinny but the majority seemed to be feeding well and one puked a bunch of small minnows up in the boat.  Our cull total is included in Jason’s report.  The weather was nice and cool and was cloudy most of the day making for a comfortable fishing day in July.  The rain forced us off the water early so we could get the boat out and not risk rutting up the property owner’s yard.  Thanks to the PWF team and the property owners for another great trip.

Sounds like a great trip!  I was just wondring what size center console you launched. i am very familiar with the property and have been wanting to take my 21ft bass boat there. Did you have a 4 wheel drive?  thanks

22’ Xpress bay boat.  Ramp is narrow but just wide enough.  It was a chore to get it back on the trailer without using big motor.  We eventually had to just use the big motor to bump it up.  And yes, we used 4wd.  The ramp is concrete but we didn't want to make a bunch of ruts once the truck tires hit the wet grass.

I think the bass boat would be possible if the ground is dry and you have 4wd.
