Fellow member John Shepard and I visited Bremmond for the first time in a long while. To give you an idea how long its been, the trees were 3-4 ft deep in the water except for the very far side but even those were in water. We were surprised to see only the front edge of the trees were barely in the water. We started on the dam with chatterbait and crankbait catching a couple right away then worked our way around the perimeter to get an idea of the water depths and try to locate a school. The dam seemed to be the place for the majority of our bites. To Johns surprise I decided to rig up a drop shot and it was game on. I will admit that the quality went down using the dropshot but we did some much needed culling in doing so, The weather was nice and cool with cloudy conditions and a couple of late morning showers, however shortly before noon John pulled up radar and noticed some heavier stuff headed towards us. We could see on the southern horizon the darker clouds were getting darker but the bite was so good we drug our feet to get off until we started hearing mother natures fireworks getting closer and closer till it was on us. we rushed to the bank and got everything in the truck as fast as we could and made our way to the gate, by that time the wind, lightening and rain was so bad we sat in the truck for 20-25 minutes until it was close to stopping and literally slid out the gate. We had a good day regardless of having to end a couple of hours sooner than we had planned catching 55 total and culling 22. a few of the bass were very thin but the overall population seemed to be in good health.
