We had a good time while it lasted. My trolling motor failed after 4 hours of fishing. I have enjoyed this property since joining PWF. Driving through the rough trails getting to the lake has been sheer excitement. This time was no different, but it did seem a little easier. Maybe because I knew what to expect. I had made sure to have good tires on my truck as well as a spare on the boat trailer. The lake water level was really low. I was expecting the water level to be normal. See pictures attached of the lake’s level. Driving up to the launch area we saw a lot of rock piles. It looks like the owner is working on the dam by laying the rocks on the dam. He has laid at least ¼ of the rocks. This is probably why the water level was down so he can complete the dam construction. I am excited for this construction. I believe the rocks will provide a great haven for big bass for years to come especially with the willow trees. Anyhow, the water clarity was poor. It was really muddy, but the bite was good once I found the right baits and areas. My daughter was catching them with her texas rig and rattletrap. Black & blue and chrome were the colors, respectively. I had lost a few hard pullers at the boat so nothing huge on this trip. Wish I would have at least seen them. My trolling motor began acting up on me and it failed on the far end. The wind decided to pick up as well. I had to pull out the paddle for a quarter of the stretch until my daughter was able to figure out the connection on the motor. Whew!! This is not a small pond, haha. I decided to pack it up and not risk another failure. At the end, we ended up with 23 and it was a decent day at the Backside. I can’t wait when it gets back to normal. Thank you owner and PWF!
