Last year, a friend and I took a handful of boys to fish at Cordo.  Today we did it again.  That was early March, and today was end of June.  The conditions were much different, but the result was the same….memories made.

No, we didn’t catch over 50 bass this time, but the boys still had a blast.

We had 2 adults and 4 kids (under 12) fishing. Everyone was throwing something different at any given time.  The topwater bite was good for a short span, but it did not last long.  As the sun went up, we had to get the boys to slow down their presentations for the bites.  Overall, collectively 27 bass were landed.  About half were returned.

Will those boys be back?  You bet they will!

If you have fished Cordo in the past, you know that vegetation near the banks have been a problem.  Well, the abundance of noticeable grass carp have fixed that.  The owner said they are pleased with the results that the carp have yielded.  I know that the vegation abundance was a deterrent for me booking Cordo in the warmer months.  It is much better than it has been in previous years.  The water is not quite as clear, but the ability to toss a variety of baits is now there.
