Reservation Number : 43868
Property Name : Post Oak Lake
Reservation Date : 06/21/2025 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 23 / dinks to 3LB
Lures Used : Most effective lures were: T-Rig curly tail worm, spinnerbait, and Ned rig

We fished Post Oak Saturday under sunny to partly cloudy skies and a significant southerly wind. Well, we've all had these trips – but as soon as I realized that my trolling motor was dead as soon as I connected it, I knew it was going to an uphill battle. And it was not the battery as I brought along a spare. Anyway using the property’s large and listing pontoon boat with only a paddle and a strong wind was the task. We managed to fish the W/NW shoreline from the launch to the bridge and into the small pond before giving up on it. OH, and Pam took a treble hook in the thumb. I was able to push it through the side of her thumb and cut off the barb. She still caught the best fish of the day after all that. We still landed 23 up to 3LB. Most effective lures were: T-Rig curly tail worm, spinnerbait, and Ned rig. Like Brad’s Ozempic comment in his Pecan Springs report, these fish were skinny and the harvesters were empty bellied. Maybe just a seasonal thing. Overall another enjoyable adventure with PWF.

Mark,

Moving that particular boat with just a paddle is quite a challenge (been there, done that with a mid-trip dead battery) but adding in the wind makes that nearly a superhero task.  My complements to both of you.

I fished after you on Monday and also noted the listing pontoon boat and the skinny bass.

Apparently, one of the pontoons in the boat has sprung a leak. We have notified the landowner and we are working on getting a mobile aluminum wealder to fix the boat. I would guess our members are dragging the boat on the concrete ramp causing the the hole in the pontoon. We have take the boat availabilty away until fixed. No boat here for awhile.

Steve,

Any chance the pontoon will be back in service next week?  We have a tripped booked for next Saturday the 5th up there.

Thanks,

Nick,

it will not be fixed by them. No estimate on a time frame. It's still serviceable and can be used. It lists to one side and is heavier than normal so u til its fixed we have taking away the option to be ok it. So, you can still use it, but know its extra heavy.

if we can help you find.another place to fish, please call us.

Thanks for the update Steve.  No worries.  We were gonna use the pontoon and a 10 foot pond prowler for our group of 4, but we have a 20ft. aluminium center console that we will tow up and launch at the ramp to cover us.  Should be no issues as long as it doesnt flood up there this week.  Mark, appreciate the fishing report.
