Brought a guest to restart my fishing hobby.
Gate and lock were easy to get through. Road down to the lake was easy to use and finding a spot near the boat was no issue. Only a garter snake hiding under the boat at Little A. It did not want to move – I wouldn’t either, prime rodent hunting spot.
Got the boat in the water and loaded up. Two bass caught with topwater in the first 30 minutes. Switched to ned rig. Ned rig was the winner, had several flurries of bass activity in the early morning before 9am.13 of my14 bass were landed before 9am. Sun came out, the wind picked up to 13mph, and the bite faded.
Packed up out of Little A by 10:30 and headed over to Wild Card to take a look. It looked good enough to get me back in the boat. This boat had a few stowaways in the form of field mice. Wild Card was more sheltered from the wind, but the sun was still beating down around the clouds. No bites. I switched to a popper along the south shoreline and got a few blowups but nothing committed.
All of the fish were extremely healthy. Two of the bass had shorebird wounds but that did not affect their fight. Excellent outing at a wonderful location.
