Fished the beautiful Hickory Creek Ranch on a warm Thursday afternoon.  Started out cloudy with a gusty west wind that eased off during the afternoon and fell to calm around 6:30.  Lake level is high, visibility around 18 inches. Weeds were not a problem, but did find them right on the shoreline.

Caught fish all around the lake on a variety of soft plastics mostly in shallow water.  Great numbers but no extra-large girls made it to the boat.  A large one in deeper water took a worm and about 15 yards of line before wrapping it around a submerged tree limb and breaking off. A couple of good sized sunfish thought the bass lures looked appetizing too. The busy bite died with the wind around 6:30 so I left a little early.

Also enjoyed the freshly mowed lawn, a friendly wave from ranch worker and good quiet time on the water in the company of lots of bustling redwing blackbirds.
