The highs: very nice property—serene, quiet, variety of birds, peaceful; beautiful weather; some variety of structure to fish with many spots that look to have high potential; solid volume of fish; very little vegetation to deal with—tried a variety of lures; and the gorilla tape on the bottom of the club boat is holding up.
The lows: the fish were tiny (see photo); fish were found in only three distinct spots; and it can get windy in some areas even with a mi,d (10-15 mph) breeze.
i landed 36 fish between 730AM – 500PM. A bag of the best five may have gone 7.5 lbs. The fact these tiny fish kept hitting moving baits that were a quarter to half their size tells me they're aggressive and hungry. I can't speak to what was going on but I was tempted to take them out…only I didn't see a harvest policy. The lake appeared full (over spillway) but is mostly VERY shallow (2-6 ft). The visibility was roughly 3-5 ft. I found fish in three spots: along the dam near the spillway; around the corner between the spillway amd boat launch; and in some shallow timber roughly across from the launch near the electrical posts.
I’d consider making the fairly long drive back to this lake if I thought I might land a 2+ lb fish.
