I had some business in Waco and made a run out to Live Oak because i had not been before and had a few hours before dark.  Rain has made the drive down to the lake a little messy but i never needed 4 wheel drive.  I used the club boat and my trolling motor and it all worked fine.  I will say these 14 ft jon boats are getting heavier for this old man!  The vegetation covers about 50% of the lake and it makes for tough fishin in some pockets but with the clear water I can see the bass in there.

I had the most success out in front of the old dock area and along the west bank fishing weedless black/blue grape/chart plastics.  The fish were healthy but lots of small guys.  I probably missed as many hook sets as I made.  I would say the lake is 50% fishable which gives you plenty of opportunity.  I had limited time on the water 3 hrs so I didn’t get as many chance to try different colors or patterns.
