Reservation Number : 43416
Property Name : Moonshine Lake
Reservation Date : 05/05/2025 PM -
Total Fish/Sizes : 2 - 3lbs, 10 - 2lbs
Lures Used : Scum Frog, TXR worm 7.5", Crankbait, Jerk Bait, Spinnerbait

Beautiful day for fishing.  Overcast, some sprinkles, calm winds.  Lake is full with some staining but overall still very clear.

Fished open water with little sucess.

Caught 95% of the fish in the lily pads and coontail grass near the banks.

All caught on a weedless rigged 7.5” worm.

Scum frog produced some good blowups but no hookups.

Plenty of bites but a lot of missed fish or lost fish due to the pads and weeds.

Once hooked and buried in the weeds, I had to paddle to them to get them out.

Lost a number of fish, including a few bigger ones due to a poor hookset or getting off after getting buried in the weeds and moss.

I would suggest a strong rod and 50# braided line if going to fish in the near future.

Overall, a great fishing experience.  Plenty of hard fighting fish in this lake, but they are going to make you work to catch them.  (Which is the way it should be….)

Good advice on the braid. If your going to throw a frog in the pads, braid is the way to go!

100% agree on braid for the pads at Moonshine.  I used 40lb Seaguar braid a few weeks back and it helps you immensely as those pads are underwater roots are thick!

Love this lake and hoping I can make the group trip in June as this property is so much fun with all its lakes have to offer.
