Just a beautiful day on Bluebonnet. The weather was great and the winds cooperated reasonably well. The lake is really full, we fished areas that were covered by wildflowers just days ago. Talking about wildflowers the bluebonnets are setting seeds and the primrose are in full blown. Today was strictly a top water day. Anything that flapped, buzzed or popped did the job. Our best five were 21 lbs which I can't take any credit. I caught some fours and threes. Probably ended with 30 for the day. Mid lake around the island and the two fingers seemed to produce.tried the dam area but not any luck. Easy launching the boat, it was leaking pretty bad. Upon leaving we turned the boat over and treated the suspected areas with JB water weld. I always carry water weld and 4” gorilla tape for patching. Also Daiso carries a hand bilch pump for $1.75.
Leaving we threw a couple on times in upper lake but only caught one bass. We were tired as throwing top water all day is exhausting. Bluebonnet was the lake of a thousand casts.
RED ALERT: on the big lake there were 3 otters sunny themselves on the bank. On exiting we saw another slip into the lake above. I think the ranch manager needs to address an otter social event meet the maker.
