Fished Post Oak from late morning til midafternoon with my friend John Bedore. The lake is considerably higher than earlier this year, with a good amount of water running over the spillway and a little vegetation in the water along the banks. Visibility in the main lake up to 4 ft but just plain muddy on the other side of the bridge. Winds were from the west and sounth, and mostly less than 10. Overcast skies cleared off at mid-day for 2-3 hours before storms started brewing to the west.
The fast action started with the first cast and didn’t slow down until jst before we took a break for lunch. Was not as crazy after that but still had plenty of takers to keep us interested. Many fighters in the 2.5 to 4+ lb range. John hooked into a big one but it managed to throw the hook before getting to the boat. Was really looking forward to the late afternoon bite, but thunder in the area and heavy storms nearby encouraged a valiant retreat around 4pm.
The place is beautiful as always, with pastures full of high lush green grass from recent rains.
