Button Lake is still kicking! I fished this West Texas lake on Monday and was surprised at what I found. The lake is almost full, and the water color and quality fish were beyond my expectations. This lake is shallow and with very little structure to speak of, and makes finding the fish pretty difficult. But once I found them, the size and strength of these fish was pretty amazing. The 7 fish I cauught in 3 hours ranged from 2 ½ to 4 ½ pounds with all but one in the 3-4 pound range. Every fish and every bite came from one of two spots. Otherwise, the lake is acres of shallow water and flat bottom. Button Lake could use multiple brush piles to attract bass to predictable places to target them. Enjoyed my visit to Button Lake and with the friendly landowner.
