Took my son and his buddy out for an am trip this morning. Brisk morning at 49 degrees but it climbed up to about 75 before we left at noon. Water temps were 61ish and rose to about 63+. Wind was mild from 5-8 mph. We got on the water just as the sun was coming up and started throwing top water. My son fooled one that was around 3+ lb with a black buzz bait which was the biggest fish of the morning. After about an hour of top water fishing with no other takers, we started throwing everything previous reports seemed to have success with but, unfortunately we didn’t have the same success. We threw spinners, chatters, cranks, jerks, plastics, jointed swims, glides, and everything else in the tackle bag. We circled the lake twice hitting the shorelines and then went out off shore and had minimal luck overall. I think we boated around 10 or so fish most being smaller (10 – 16”) and they were all scattered around the lake. White spinner got the bulk of them, while a chartreuse picked up a couple, and a couple on speed craws. I think the jerk bait hooked one little one as well.

Although no giants today, it’s always a good time getting out on the water, especially on a nice lake like this.
