Fished a sunny, cool and beautiful afternoon with my friend Brian Hummel.  The day started out with strong winds with gusts over 20 that thankfuly eased off in late afternoon.  The lake is 2-3 feet below normal (low enough to have very shallow water at the boat slip).  We encountered no significant weeds.  Water visibiilty was 2 to 4 ft in the main lake.

We traversed all areas of the lake, shallow, deep and around the edges, and tried many different patterns and presentations, with remarkably fewer bites than usual, and none in deeper water. Saw no signs of nesting.  There were some encouraging knocks, and several fish ran with baits for several yards, but either released the tails of baits or managed to shake the hook before making it to the boat.  Brian certainly took the best several fish of the day. 

The ranch as usual is in top condition.  All in all, a good afternoon to enjoy being out on the water!
