Fished with my friend met on prior trip to Cody Ranch, Diego Lopez – great man.

Arrived 12pm and we were done by 3:20pm.

Was so excited to get the new truck and boat on the water 1st time 2025, I misread the wind from another city…  showing winds would be 3-6 mph.

Water down 3-4 feet and stained from the massive winds and low vegetation to start the new year.

We launched and were on our way and was proud of my Spot Lock having to work extremely hard in 20-30 mph winds holding us steady.

Will now know to watch carefully the battery light on the main trolling motor.  Realized it was low from working so hard and we were soon to drift well past my truck – a little panic entered my mind as I enabled the back trolling motor and we made it back to the trailer and truck albeit after 4 attempts to get it on trailer with back trolling motor only.  Thank you God for answered prayers.

We bank fished for about another hour.

We caught 5 from the boat before returning and 6 from bank.

Was incredibly happy to not have to cull any this time – PROOF our harvesting efforts with PWF are working.

We also saw massive grass Carp trolling the shallows which I had not seen prior at Flying J – could have been added.  Vegetation way down from last year.

Biggest was 4.20 lbs and she like the other females are getting fat and likely for spawning.  Caught her in same location I pulled a 6.98 from similar NE corner over the rock beds late last year.  Her bite was subtle and I saw it happen, which was really neat.  More like a inquisitive bite than slam, so reeled a little quicker to avoid losing her.  The males bit much harder.
