After waiting out some unexpected morning rain showers, I got out on the stained/tea colored calm water around 8:30am and fished until the unexpected wind gusts up to 30 MPH in the mid-afternoon drove me off the water around 3:15pm. I immediately started getting hits on a shad colored finesse spinnerbait as I started in the corner by the boat house and worked the shoreline.  The first 3-4 fish didn’t hook up and were probably really small considering the size of fish I can catch on this lure.  I lost a couple of spinnerbaits to a bad knot situation (my fault) and then I got to the far end I saw bass on beds and when the spinnerbait quit working I pulled out the wacky rig and caught more up shallow.  There were definitely a lot of beds and spawning activity and I didn’t find any fish out deep.  The bottom and opposite bank is covered in the thick black moss and I didn’t find any beds or a shallow bite along that side of the lake.  I alternated between the spinnerbait and the wacky rig most of the day, but I also tried a squarebill, Tx rig, chatterbait, and a paddletail swimbait on a flashy swimmer that landed 1 fish. At the end of the day I took home 12 fish and returned 13.  Three of them were at or over 3lbs and all of them were chunky and hard fighters.  Thanks to the landowners and PWF for a really fun property.
