The day started great three fish on  a swimbait.  It went down hill from there.  The lake is above the spillway and off color.  Northeast must have received that big front on Wednesday.  So maybe post front had something or maybe the full moon.  So the day ended with 10 fish the largest around 3 lbs.

Now the rest of the story so help me God.  I down sized to a Rebel hopper top water maybe 1” and 1 1/2” in green .  I was throwing it on an ultra light Fenwick rod with 4 lb. Test.  The water erupted like the mother of all top water eruptions.  A grass carp maybe 3 to 4 feet devoured it. It came running right for the boat with the triple hook firmly in the  lip.  The madness began as it was stripping line. It ran under the boat and before we could get a picture or raise up the trolling motor it tangled in the trolling motor. It was gone. So there is a grass carp swimming around with a rebel hopper in their lip.

We checked the dam area and no beds yet.  Which surprised me as a friend at lake Palestine said he has caught post spawn bass.  If surprises me that things change from year to year.  Also there is a pair of Cormorants nesting at the lake which didn't make me happy. I guess as long as it doesn't become a rookery.

A great day to get out and have fun.
