Had a great day at Live Oak Creek with my son. Fished the whole shoreline in the boat with topwater and picked off about 15, lots of misses and action in the first 2 hours. Wind picked up so we decided walk the bank, and caught another 20 or so mainly on worms (wacky/no weight). I don’t think the color mattered on this day, but we were throwing mostly watermelon and electric blue. Walking the bank allowed us to focus and see the structure in a few parts of the lake (sublte points or drop offs). Got back in the boat and hits those areas again in deeper water about 15ft off the shore (with both crankbaits and drop shotting worms)...caught another dozen or so. Very impressed by the consistency of quality bass, average weight had to be around 2.5lbs...only 7 under the slot, all very healthy fish. The two biggest ones we caught looked like they were 2lbs heavier a few weeks ago:). We probably fished for about 5 hours, but were there from 830-230. Consistent action all day, but 12-1 was on fire. Boat was fine and did the trick...most of the shoreline was clear of vegetation, but good visible weeds in deeper water that produced fish like clockwork.
