Got to the lake around 0730. Lake was nice and full with water temp 55, clarity 3-4 feet, wind 3-12 mph out of the south, milfoil 2-3 feet below the surface. We got a nice fish right away on a lipless, but then that bite stopped. We slowly went around the lake changing lures fairly often. The back ¼ of the lake is 1-2 feet deep and full of milfoil, will probably be a big spawning area when the temp comes up. We finally found a shallow running twitch bait with flashy sides that was the bait of the day. We did not put it down for 6-7 hours. It caught numbers and good sizes. We had runs of every other cast getting a strike and many landed. The only bait close to it was a MB clear orange craw flat side crank bait that started getting bit at 1100 and continued the rest of the day, just not getting hit as often as the other bait. It was an incredibly fun day and the weather could not have been more perfect. We had the distinct fortune of finding a long tree near the dock area and were able to pull almost 8 to 10 bass from the same area within about 10 to 20 minute period of time, it was like we had come up upon a school and they were holding in that one spot and we could pull them out as fast as we could throwback. We caught 4 of our biggest fish at that tree. I have had a lot of one to four fish days and know that this was a special day for us and may not get repeated very often, but we certainly enjoyed it while we had it. Thank you to the Landowner who has kept this lake fertile and well managed, love the rock ramp, and I will definitely be back.
