Fellow member John Shepard and I arrived just before sunrise under overcast skies and fished till noon. Started from the bank and then moved to the boat for the final 3 hours. Bass were scatttered and our success came on shakey head ribbon tailed worms, lipless chrome cranks and one on a scat bait. Biggest bass were hugging the bottom in the deepest part of the lake in front of the dam. Water temp was 52-53F. The bass showed no interest in sq bills, chatterbaits, underspins, nor trig craws, wacky senkos or even the ned rig.
We didn’t catch many, but those that bit were chunky and fought like hell! John caught 5 bass and one big catfish and I finished with 2 bass. All of the bass were tighlty bunched in size between 17-19.5” (plus one dink) with the big girl that John landed weighing in at 4lbs 3oz. When they bit you knew it right away.
Tank is down about 2ft and the water is a bit on the muddy side with about 0.5-1ft of visibility and no significant aquatic vegitation.
Cheers!
