When we arrived about noon, we were beginning to question the decision to fish today. Winds were gusting 20+ mph. Temps were still in the 30s. We were layered and ready to make the trip worth it.

The sun did begin to come out to help our hands thaw. The wind was sporadic, but remained strong most of the day.

The bites came in bunches as we walked the main 4. Water level was up, but the submerged vegetation still played a factor in lure selection and presentation.  The higher water level actually allowed better casting options than any of my previous visits here. It allowed almost full access to those main 4 ponds.
There were 2 of us fishing, and we landed 36 total. Obviously we lost a few as well. Most were on the green swimjig, but we also got bites on swimbait, fluke and chatterbait.

As for size, most were around the 13” mark. With only a few exceptions, the majority of bass landed were very skinny. The biggest had a head of a 5-6lber, but likely only weighed about 3lbs.

We also saw the biggest skunk either of us had ever seen. It was just exploring between the ponds. We left it alone, and thankfully it didn't seem bothered by us.
