The day started slowly for Ron Dupree and me at Post Oak Ranch as it took us quite a long time to catch our first bass.  We found that the patterns observed recently by us (deep near the dam) and others (slow in middle of the lake ; beetle-spins) didn’t apply this time.  The lake level was up 3-4” due to recent rains, the water was still moderately clear (except past the bridge where it looked like milk), and the temperature has risen to 54 degrees.  We eventually caught fish in many areas around the lake but 90% were shallow and very near the shoreline and there were only a few areas that produced more than a couple of bass.  No obvious spawning indications yet. Only one bass was caught on a moving bait (paddletail swimbait).  Most were caught using a creature bait or a dropshot rig. We ended up with 29 bass; 11 harvested and 18 at 14 -18”.
