Reservation Number : 42342
Property Name : Travis Lake
Reservation Date : 02/07/2025 PM -
Total Fish/Sizes : 26
Lures Used : creature bait, lipless crankbait, squarebill

I was 0 for 3 on big bass today. I didn’t think this lake would give me that many chances. I blamed it on my hooks. They didn’t hold up and needed to be switched out. I will definitely change out trebles next time around. All 3 big fish turned and shot for deep water. They were sitting in 1-2 ft of water and could be early nesters. They took drag and pulled from the hooks. One of them actually bent out one of the treble (pic). You would think a good name brand lure would have good hooks. I was wrong. I knew they were big from the power & speed and the wake they left. Well, I have another date with this lake lol.

I fished from 120- 530 pm. The lake had maybe 6” clarity at the dam so the other parts of the lake looked muddy. I didn’t mind it as I threw bright flashy baits etc. The water temp was 56-57 degrees. It was a little chilly 51 degrees outside but I rather have 51 vs 101. Water level was still down (pics added). It was a little sketchy but all was good on launching. The lake was mostly calm the last couple of hours. There were alot of activity in 6-12’ of water. However, I could not get those to bite in deeper water. The majority of fish were caught under 6’ of water. I ended up catching 25 bass, 1 crappie, and culled 15 bass. The culled bass were 10-12”. The largest caught was 17.5”. Thank you ower and PWF!

Culling is starting to pay off there. Lake is up a little from when I was there last. I usually unload a little toward the dam where that ledge disappears good solid hard bottom there for the trailer. Nice to see some decent fish coming from there. I had 3 good fish 4-7 lbs last trip there.

John, I appreciate the photo of the launch area! I was looking for another spot to launch when I was fishing the dam. You read my mind.
