Trinity Lakes was one of the first properties I fished as a guest, and the last time I was there, there were still 3 lakes to fish so it’s been awhile.  I fished from about 8am to 4:45pm under bluebird skies with a stiff north wind from 10-15 and gusty throughout the day.  Air temp started around 40 and got up to mid-50’s in the afternoon.  Water was 54 degrees with about 12-16” visibility.  I caught 12 fish total which includes 2 crappie.  All but 1 dink was caught in the middle third of Arrowhead in 6 to 10’ of water as the northern third was only 1-2 feet deep, and I couldn’t seem to get the deeper fish around the dam to respond to anything.  I caught a few on a shad colored spinnerbait in the morning.  One on a black/blue chatterbait, one on a flat-side crank, and the rest on a 3.25” swimbait on a flashy swimmer swam very slowly.  Afternoon was very slow with only the crappie and a couple of dinks caught after my short lunch break.  Only 2 dinks and 2 crappie were harvested as the others were 16” and up with the largest weighing just over 3lbs.  All the bigger bass were solid chunks who put up good fights.  Other techniques that didn’t get results: lipless, deep crank, finesse jig, jerkbait, drop shot, weightless Yamatanuki, free rigged craw, mid-strolling.  Glad to get a few more fish on the last day of the year, and look forward to more great PWF memories in 2025.
