Bob Scheidemann and I enjoyed our last PWF adventure of 2024 at beautiful BlackJack Ranch.  It was foggy upon arrival and we tried topwater in the northern shallows with no success.  A stiff breeze quickly arrived and we started out fishing from the pier and had moderate success using a variety of baits (chatterbait, wacky senko, creature bait, squarebill, scatt).  Bob then started to circle the lake counterclockwise and I went clockwise.  Both of us had to practice our casting into the wind without birdsnest skills. We continued finding success for mostly 2-2.5# bass on the outside edge of the weedline (which wasn’t really sharp except around the dam) and in the nearshore vegetation.  More bass came from the eastern shore than the others.  Bob landed the big bass of the morning at 19” 3.55 #. We had a total of 24 bass landed by the time the bite slowed way down and we launched the boat.  We caught another dozen bass all around the lake including a couple in deeper water off the dam butb the bite became slower and slower until we left at 3PM.. I caught 1 19.75” 3.77# at the dam weedline. Final total was 36 bass landed (mostly 2-2.5#) with 9 harvested.

The lake level is up a little but still lowish.  Water temp was 58-62 degrees.  Little vegetation reaches the surface but there is abundant submerged vegetation everywhere.  water clarity was surprising: 6 feet for a white lure near the pier and over 4 feet elsewhere.
