Reservation Number : 41742
Property Name : Travis Lake
Reservation Date : 11/30/2024 PM -
Total Fish/Sizes : 25 up to 6#
Lures Used : Trig worm, chatterbait, lipless crank, crawfish jig, swimbait, squarebill crankbait

My daughter and I drove out there, and and at first we thought, wow, it's low. It must have been at least 3 ft low. I was able to back the trailer far enough to hand push the boat in. We fished from 1-5 pm. Water was 53° and stained. Weather was 58° and windy. Flashy, vibrating baits worked but plastics were good at the dam where clarity was better. I caught the biggest 5 lbs 14 oz using a trig blue craw. I caught a few other good fish too. We ended with 24 bass and one crappie. I'm sure it'll be better fishing once it gets more water and warmer. Thank you owner and PWF!

Culling starting to pay off. I was out there a couple months ago and got a 7,5,4.  Someone said there is a brush pile there now, it wasn't showing when I was there (water level looked about the same). If you saw it can you give me an idea where it is? lol. Good to see you back

Thanks John. The brush pile was in the middle halfway between the pier and the fenceline on the west side in about 3 ft of water. It was pretty shallow on the west side, so it felt like we were fishing only 8 acres not 12. Let me know if you want to go to the Backside of the Moon again. I would like to get back out there before winter.

Trey Vo –

Thanks much for posting your report.  I am headed out there this Sunday with Scott Wheeler.  Trying to figure this place out a little and I am worried about the depths.  Any productivity on the opposite side of the damn at all?  Where most of your fish in the deeper areas towards the damn?

I have heard the black/blue collar patterns work well out there.  Noticed our temps will be a little higher come this weekend, you think this will impact how they are moving?

Any adivce is appreciated –

Hello Steve,

Thanks for messaging. I had fished from the brush pile (BP) and back towards the dam as the depth further west was too low for my liking. I had focused mainly on areas with deeper water. Also, the water at the time was too dirty on the west end from the winds. I have added the picture with the highlighted areas in which depth wasn’t an issue and where fish were caught. Most of the fish were caught from 2-5 ft of water. If you see baitfish busting on top and on the screen, there’s a pretty good chance you’re in the right area. Size down on your baits with slower retrieve and you should be fine. I also stuck with brighter color like chartreuse and silvery white. Black & blue worked for me too. I hope it go well for y’all!

My wife is getting hip replacement and we just got surgery date today (Dec 31). I want to do one more fishing trip before then. Backside was very muddy last week and may take another two weeks to get better back to its regular turbidness. That would help a lot. I am interested in going back there or was thinking in a Cody Ranch lake (love me some moonshine lake). If BSoM does not get a major rain out there (as it is FULL) it should settle down with a few sunny days. If you still have my number text me.
