Fingerling
My brother and I fished Saturday Nov 23 here, and boy has the lake changed! It looks like the owners have sort of let it go, so to speak, but I loved it. There is thick vegetation almost entirely covering up the east pier, and the west cove adjacent to the boat dock is partially grown over. The place looks much more natural and fishy, and it was beautiful even before this happened! For those who haven’t been here, this is a wildlife sanctuary for birds of almost every kind: swans, osprey, various hawks, many different species of water fowl, etc. And there are so many bass, with a bunch of big ones we’ve caught over the years.
This trip, however, pretty much all they wanted was a soft swim bait, but we did catch a few on lizards (there was no top water bite at all). Lily pads were not a problem, and the entire lake is fishable though fairly weedy. The owner is running water into the lake to keep it almost full. No trophies this time, but we ended up with 47 bass ranging from 14” to 19”. We culled around 25 or so.
This continues to be a wonderful property and I will return many times, God willing.
