Second try at MK. Pretty lake. Beautiful day—partly cloudy, light breeze, cool morning. Fished solo. No electronics. Started fishing at 715 and stopped at 4. The first 5 hours yielded n-o-t-h-I-n-g. Not even a bite. I threw everything during nearly a complete lap of the lake’s perimeter plus some time around interior. Finally, when I was questioning if anything other than snot grass lives in MK Lake, I caught a 4 lb’er as I neared the boathouse. About 10-minutes later I had another bite and missed it. My interest level was rising. Then I cut across the lake, where I’d heard some commotion and switched to a chatterbait. I caught a 2 lb’er. That's when it got interesting. I noticed some splashing about fifty yards away. I moved the boat so could cast over the thrashing without disturbing the fish. I put on a large, bone colored, whopper plopper. Right out of the block I managed a great cast over the spot without catching the reeds. When I got over the spot the water blew up. It was a 4 lb’er. I continued to fish that spot and caught another five in seven casts. Every one 3-4.5 lb. Great fighters. I burned that spot out. Fished another 30-minutes without a strike. Packed-up and drove home happy. That burst made the 90-minute drive and relentless removal of snot grass more than worthwhile.
A word on the snot grass: it makes it very frustrating when fishing the perimeter to throw anything other than a top water (even those often grab it), including “weedless” rigs. You're pulling what feels like coarse hair off your lure every cast. Pics included.

Steve –
Insane day. Most might have packed up after the first 5 hours of zilch.
THANKS for the write up. Got this on my list for a visit soon.
