John Shepard and I arrived at dawn to still water and tried our luck with topwaters from the south bank…unfortunately we had no takers. He switched to a small 4ft diving crankbait and never looked back. He had a hell of a day landing 29 bass including the big fish of the day a 21” (5.3#), as well as two 19” and six 18” bass (along with 9 dinks).  I on the other hand only landed 9 bass (including 6 dinks) in our morning session, including a 16”, 17.5” and a 19” on my last cast. Most of mine were caught with a shallow sq bill.

Most  of the 38 bass were caught from the bank in the deeper half of the lake. Water clarity was about 12-16” and the tank is down about 3-4ft. Some succes was also had on a chatterbait, dropshot and spinner bait.

So greatful to be back fishing after a long absence!
