Frogs dropping all day long

We threw frogs all day long.  Probably boated 30+ that ranged from 1.5 to 4.8 pounds. We lost another 20+ buried in the weed. We were throwing 30 lb braid and once they buried and did the head shake, game over.   The lake is at least 2 foot low, so some heavy winter rains are needed.  Saw plenty of forage in school around the shallows. To launch the club boat do not put in over the rocks. But watch your step as the cows have provided a hoof hazard into the mud.  The club boat has a slight leak which we couldn't identify as the source.  We use a hand siphon you can buy at Daiso for a couple of bucks. The pond was alive when we arrived with top water action. So out comes the frog parade. We only had a slow down between 2 pm and 3 pm. The last hour was insane. The water gets clearer the farther you go west in the pond.  If you happen to be a birdwatcher this place is a shore bird buffet.  Plus lots of ducks and geese.  We got within 30 feet of a blue heron.  Never got to the other tank as we were too tired at the end of the day.  We will be back to this ranch as lots of quality fish.

Bob,

Thanks for the update on the leak. You are correct, this is likely from members dragging boat across the rock ramp. We will get it fixed by the end of the week. Thanks for letting us know.

That's a great day!!   With all the rain we had, how was the dirt road leading to the ramp?

Very dry, drove right to 20’ of the pond.   They must have been in the area that only got a quarter inch of rain. I checked the weather results before we went.  South of Ennis got an inch and northeast of Ennis got three quarters of an inch. Just watch the hoof holes you can easily sprain or break an ankle in them.

Good to know, thanks.
