Due to an unfortunate last minute boat situation, I found myself bank fishing at Twin Lakes on Tuesday. I was not very optimistic because of how windy it was going to be and being limited to the portion of the lakes fishable from the shore. I fished from about 8:30am to 3:00pm with a short lunch break at 12. Weather was partly cloudy and up to upper 80’s with a strong South wind of 15-20mph. Water was stained with maybe 18” viz as far as I could tell. I started on East Lake with a Black Chappo, a Spinnerbait, and a Black/Gold Buzzbait. I missed the only blow up on the Chappo as it was right against the bank as I was able to lift the lure over the grass edge (familiar theme warning). I caught a couple and missed a couple on the Buzzbait and again all the fish were right up at the grass edge. These were all caught/missed in the shallow cove to the left of the boat launch area. I moved to the small dock and caught one first cast with a squarebill, then tried the squarebill, spinnerbait, and chatterbait all along the dam picking up a few more. After lunch break, I moved over to West Lake and almost immediately started catching them on the spinnerbait (3/8oz Zman compact in green shad with a curly tail grub trailer). I steadily caught fish all along the fishable shore area all the way down to the old broken down dock and fence line till about 2:45. Again, almost every fish was caught within 3 feet of the shoreline, but this also meant that every cast I didn’t catch one I was cleaning off the slimey moss/grass from my bait. Bigger fish were at East Lake with a couple around 3lbs, the rest were mostly in the 1.5-2lb class with only 3 or so dinks.

Hi David – What was the water level like on each of the lakes?
