We hit the water at 7:30 am last Sat and started with the baits that worked for us the day before. What a contrast in weather in one day. When we left the lake on Friday at 1:00 pm it was 103. This morning it was 63 with a 20 mph North wind! I love Texas!
Once again the white 1/2 oz swim jig started boating fish. This is an easy lure to fish for even the most novice fishermen. You simply throw it out on fairly heavy tackle (I use a 7’ heavy action rod and 50# Sufix braid) and reel it back fast. I instructed my guys to throw it right on the bank and start reeling.
Even with the cold front blowing in on us the fish were biting really well. By 10:00 am we had 28 fish in the boat up to 4.5#. We also caught a few on a Popper type lure and even a buzzbait but the swim jig was the hot bait.
Around 11:00 the clouds blew away and the sun popped out bright. The fishing really slowed down so we had to go to soft plastics and hit the creeks again. Wacky rigged Zoom Trick works and Senkos did the trick for us and we boated 10 more fish.
Nothing huge but lots of fun. We harvested 11 fish under 14 inches this morning. We left the lake about 12:30 pm.
