Small lake with plenty of fish! We caught fish on all parts of the lake and at every depth. This is a great numbers lake as we caught 70 fish with 30 of those being culls. They do like their pumpkin , green pumpkin and watermelon colors at this lake.Im not sure there is a lure you could throw here and not catch fish. Biggest fish of the day was #5 but we had many between #2 and that one. Culling will continue to help this lake.

Water color is stained, looks like the lake is 6-8 feet low, water temp 77-83.

Now for the lesson…...With the water level low, I backed down too far and got my truck stuck like chuck in the soft sand. Not the mud, just the super duper soft sand. No matter how many different techniques I tried, the tires just kept getting deeper. Ended up calling a wrecker that got $250 for pulling me out. I would not recommend backing down any further than the level grass line which is where there are stickers everywhere, but youll still have your money!

Ah, the joys of fishing and the memories! :)

Shane,

I hate that you got stuck and had to pay $250 to get out. Before I became an owner the club I got stuck twice. In those days (20+ years ago) you had a binder that had a list of all the properties in the club. The binder was broken into markets (Houston NE/Houston SW/San Antonio/Dallas SE/Dallas NE/Dallas South/Dallas SW and Dallas West) Sorry, Ft Worth and Austin, you weren’t in the binder. In the binder was a description and a crude map. GPS was not a thing and when you got the gate, you had to “find” your way to the lake. So, I made a wrong turn or two and got stuck. Once at the boat launch and once trying to find the lake down a dirt path. After getting stuck twice I bought a 4WD truck. For those you don’t have 4WD, it is a game changer. You will rarely if ever get stuck again.

Shane, I know this was not a pleasant memory for you, but thanks for reminding me of the younger days of the club. Here is a video of the Great Texas Bass Club Binder (the former name of the club). We still have 2 leases that we had in year one (1997). Would anybody like to guess which 2 lakes are the oldest running leases? The first person to guess we will send a gift.

We still have a handful of members who joined the very first year the club opened in 1997! We are grateful for so many that have been members for decades!

Thank You!

You got one of them Bob, Athens Northeast Lake.  Hint, if you take a close look at Steve’s video you can actually see the other one…I don’t think anyone would ever guess it!

Is the other one Jefferson.   Never fished it but I know it has been around for a long time.
