I come to Texas to fish PWF waters every September, I don't recall it ever being this hot this time of year. 98 degrees. Arrived at sunrise, No top water bite. There were massive blow ups all around me. They were all coming at the edge of the weed beds. I am assuming it was so hot that they were just hunkered down in the weeds. Got a nice one, four pounds or so on a spinnerbait along the edge of the weeds. Mostly got them on Senkos casting onto the weed beds, then bringing them off. Nothing, and I mean nothing in open water. Just hunkered down in the weeds. My daughter arrived from Lubbock at around 400, and we fished Mesquite for a while, and got several on flukes, Senkos, and punching the weed beds around the dock pretty much sight fishing. Very clear water, while bluebonnet was off color. Went back to Bluebonnet for the evening bite, which never really materialized, again, likely due to the heat. Would like to return in the spring. There are a lot of quality fish in there based on all the blow ups around me.
