Had a good morning for numbers at Malouf.
We hit the water early and started on the east shore with lipless cranks and spinnerbaits. Caught several small to nice bass doing this. A white swim-jig also worked well fished fast over the tops of the grassbeds. Fun to watch them come up and get it!
As the sun got up we went to soft plastics near the creek channel and caught a bunch more. No big ones but several were in the 3-3.25# range. We harvested 33 bass under 14” today.
Noticed most of the bass we caught today were very skinny. I didn’t see any baitfish working around the lake. Nor did I see an bluegill activity around the grassbeds.
All in all a fun day with a total of 56 bass. Not bad for half a day. Started getting hot by noon!
Lake appears to be about 2’ low but ramp was in good shape. I put my 21’ Legend in with no problem. Water temp was 85-86 degrees.
