Reservation Number : 40955
Property Name : Dogwood Lakes Estate: West Lake
Reservation Date : 09/17/2024 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 21 up to 8.95#
Lures Used : underspin w/fluke, pop-r and square bill crank

Arrived at lake around 7:30 am in a light fog and 68 air temp..  Fog lifted to an overcast sky with winds intermittent and less than 5 mph.  water temp at start was 78 reaching to 80 around noon.  Water clarity was typical east texas to about 24”. Started with pop-r from ramp along dam following bank back to ramp picking up several culls and releasing 1 or 2.  Just before got back to ramp, I started crankoing pop-r to make another cast.  Withing 1 or 2 rounds of the handle an explosion happened with 20 feet of boat.  Barely able to get in net and ended up 8.95#. Topwater slowed so started alternating between underspin and square bill.  Fish were pretty scattered but seemed to congregate on 6-8 feet.  I did not realize how many submerged stumps were on some of these flats until started throwing the square bill.

The clouds parted about 2 and scattered the fish even more so called it a day around 2:30 when temp ghot into the nineties.

Agreed Rodney!  Great catch.  Nice pics. And on a topwater as well. I can imagine the explosion.  I’ve fished East twice, but never West.  Beautiful property!
