Wonderful lake, a lot of fun to fish.
Today was overcast and breezy all morning, which made for excellent fishing weather. I didn’t get hot until noon. Since the water is pretty low, the bank has a drop-off that makes trailering tricky so just take it slow.
I tried fishing the deeper areas where I have had success previously, but they just weren’t there. I fished the bank/shallows instead, and caught fish regularly all around the lake. I believe I took the most fish in the shallow half of the lake (opposite the dam side), with the texas rig (green/red flake) over the weeds, just about everywhere. The water at this lake is very clear, and their are aquatic plants on the bottom, but not a lot on top (at least at this time of year), making it easy to fish above the weeds with just about any lure. A light weight texas rig produced the most today, and they were aggressive as usual here, they typically hit it as soon as it touched the water. Topwater caught a few spread out, probably 5 total topwater. A few that were deep were on a larger pegged weight texas rig dragged on bottom.
Most fish were above slot, with the largest just under 4lbs, so great fish all around and a lot of fun. I also missed a few so there were more to be had.
