I got lucky with the weather and it was overcast and cooler than the past few weeks.  Last time I fished here I couldn’t get a hit on topwater all morning.

This time around a fished a spook and caught maybe 5 spread out, a few small, a few decent sized.  I also caught three or so near the rocks on the dam side with a bladed jig.

Late morning I fished the deeper water. 6-8 foot range, and caught a lot spread out on softbaits (they seemed to like them all).  Almost every fish deeper was nicer sized.  I didn’t catch any really big fish, but they were a lot of fun, felt huge in deeper water.  So probably around 5 topwater, 3 bank, and 8 deeper on softbaits.  Only one was very small, the rest were close to slot size.  7 were culled in the ice chest.

Water seemed pretty low, so launching your own boat can be tricky with a trailer becase of the steep drop-off at the bank edge.  The owner dropped by to say hello, very nice.  The water here is very clear, and there is grass on the bottom of all the 2-5 foot areas, but this time around I could fish above it easily.  Last time it seemed harder to get through the grass.

Great lake, will be back.
